Elisa Haber

Q&A:
Where did you grow up and what was your childhood like?
I was born in NYC, raised in New Jersey.   I was the younger kid, and being a girl, I received a lot of attention.   My parents werevery much into the arts and my Dad was constantly taking us to live theater, musicals and movies.  I was constantly play acting and creating dress up scenes with my friends.  I spent hours in my Grandmother's closet in Yonkers putting on her size 14 sequin dresses and adorning my face in 1950s lipsticks and eyeliner. My memories are having  a great deal of freedom and creative expression and laughter.

Who or what are influential in your work?
Live theater.  Specifically set design, props and costuming.

What is one of your favorite sayings, quotes or piece of advice?
“Nothing in the world is permanent, and we’re foolish when we ask anything to last, but surely we’re still more foolish not to take delight in it while we have it. If change is of the essence of existence one would have thought it only sensible to make it the premise of our philosophy. We can none of us step into the same river twice, but the river flows on and the other river we step into is cool and refreshing too.”
-W.Somerset Maugham, The Razor's Edge
